On 17 June, 2019, Prof. Fangli Qiao from First Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources, China gave lectures on air-sea interactions in small scale and its application in ocean-atmosphere coupled models. Moreover, he discussed that waves can affect air-sea heat flux through Bv and sea spray, and then the amplitude and direction of wind stress.

The training course also encouraged young scientists to give lectures. Dr. Siyu Chen introduced effect of the wave on the upper ocean, Dr.Sheng Chen gave lectures on impact of surface waves on wind stress under low to moderate wind conditions and Dr. Biao Zhao gave lectures on the development of a regional atmosphere-ocean-wave coupled model for typhoon. They discussed that small-scale surface waves play key role in improving global ocean circulation models, typhoon models and climate models.
